- PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana approved by the Indian government to increase solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity
- The scheme has an outlay of Rs 75,021 Cr. and will be implemented till FY 2026-27 with a Central Financial Assistance(Subsidy) component of Rs 65,700 Cr. for residential households
- Rest approx. 10,000 cr. Is allotted to DISCOM incentive, awareness, smart solar villages etc
All eligible subsidy claims will be settled within the implementation period of the scheme from March 31, 2027 The scheme would be implemented through a centralized national portal (https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in).
Based on the baseline benchmark cost for FY 2023-24 for setting up of rooftop solar systems, the following CFA structure shall be applicable

Application procedure from the customers’ end:
- Customer can choose vendors from the portal and apply for solar installation
- Solar will be installed in a mutually agreed rate between vendor and the customer with compliance to the technical specifications (Specially using DCR SPV Modules)
- After installation and completion, customer will get the subsidy directly to their bank account after approval from the DISCOM
Vendor registration:
- Vendors want to participate in this should register on the portal with documents and a PBG (Rs. 2.5 lacs for each state and Rs. 25 lacs for pan India with validity of 5 years, eligible to work upto 200kWp. After that 200-1000kWp Rs. 15 lacs, 1000-5000 kWp Rs. 50 lacs and >5000kWp Rs. 1 Cr.
- Vendors may customize their profiles and add product details in the portal
DISCOM’s Responsibility:
- Discom’s are responsible for net metering, load change and service alteration within a specific timeline
- Approval after installation and commissioning through the portal
